In winter, the Backcountry Highliner PrimaLoft Air-Perm Fleece Hoodie is a mid-layer. In summer, it’s the perfect thing to slip on over a t-shirt when the temperature quickly drops from 75 to 55. $99, available at backcountry.com
If there’s real rain in the forecast and you can’t reschedule, pack Norrøna’s Senja Gore-Tex jacket, the Norwegian family-owned brand’s most breathable and packable fully waterproof shell. (It’s so breathable, it’s loved even by trail runners!) Two oversized hand pockets can fit your action cam and waterproof housing, and, if it doesn’t rain, the jacket can be compressed into a back pocket and worn around your waist. $549, available at Teton Village Sports, 3282 Village Dr., Teton Village
Capture the excitement of the lift ride with the Akaso Brave 4 Pro action camera, which performs well above what you’d expect for its price tag (colors are vibrant, details are crisp, and the electronic image stabilization actually works). The audio quality isn’t amazing, but the voice control is, and it shoots 4K video at 30p and Full HD at up to 120p, and has an extra LCD screen on its front, allowing you to easily frame shots of yourself. $110, available at shopakaso.com
Stio’s Eddy Coast Shirt is a new, lighter-weight version of its much-loved Eddy shirt. Made from a technical seersucker fabric (that doesn’t get quite as hot as the O.G. Eddy), the Coast offers mild weather protection, is super quick drying, and has some stretch. And it looks great. $129, available at Stio, 10 E. Broadway Ave., Jackson and at stio.com
La Sportiva’s Prodigios are popular trail running shoes, and they’re also great for just walking around on rocky and uneven mountains. Nitrogen-infused foam bottoms and full-length nylon mesh inserts provide solid cushioning, protect your midsoles, and ensure your feet won’t be bruised by rocks. $155, available at Teton Mountaineering, 170 N. Cache St., Jackson
Because the intensity of the sun, well, intensifies, as you go up in elevation, protect yourself with the UPF50+ Turtle Fur Offgrid 5 Panel Hat. Made from recycled fabric, it has a comfortable moisture-wicking sweatband. A floatable brim makes this hat as perfect for a paddle on the Snake as it is for a scenic chair ride. $40, available at Skinny Skis, 65 W. Deloney Ave., Jackson
PAKA’s the Hoodie is made from an innovative cashmere-soft alpaca fabric perfect for a quick change in elevation because of its thermoregulating properties. The fabric is as comfortable at the base as it is on the summit. It being odor-resistant and, at a mere 10 ounces, lightweight, are bonuses. $139, available at pakaapparel.com
Bring serious style to eye protection with Vallon’s Howlin sunglasses. Crafted from durable-but-light acetate, the frames are a rounded aviator design and come with an optional head strap, so you don’t need to worry about them falling off. Available with standard and polarized (and even prescription!) lenses. $129, available at vallon.com
If you’ve looked at the webcam and know it’s freezing (maybe even literally) at the top, throw Mammut’s Aenergy IN Hooded jacket into your pack. A minimalist master of lightweight insulation, the jacket is windproof and filled with hydrophobic down, but with synthetic insulated panels in high-moisture areas. $379, available at Teton Mountaineering, 170 N. Cache St., Jackson
Mystery Ranch’s In and Out 25, can hold all of your summit supplies, and it compresses to the size of a small water bottle and stuffs into its own front pocket. A roll-top opening offers weather protection without adding weight, and a sternum strap means a snug fit even when you’re moving around. $99, available at REI, 974 W. Broadway Ave., Jackson
Lightweight and breathy at the bottom, but just substantial enough to keep you warm at the top, Mammut’s Runbold IV pants (available for men and women) look as good as they perform. The easily adjustable waistband ensures a perfect fit while the durable four-way stretch fabric withstands the rigors of and is comfortable for any activity. $119, available at Teton Mountaineering, 170 N. Cache St., Jackson JH
